Privacy Policy

GWOC LLC ("GWOC," "we," "us," or "our") operates the GWOC mobile application and related services (the "Service"), which help people discover local communities, businesses, and events across Central Florida. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

• Account information. When you create an account or sign in with Google or Apple, our authentication provider (Supabase) receives basic profile information such as your name and email address, in order to create and secure your GWOC account.
• Location information. To show you events, businesses, and community content relevant to where you are, GWOC may access your device's location, or you may manually select your metro area and community. You can decline location access and choose your community by hand instead.
• Content you provide. Ratings, reviews, comments, photos, event or listing submissions, and other content you choose to submit within the app.
• Business and payment information. If you buy a paid business listing or membership, we collect your business name, contact email address and phone number, the community or category you are advertising in, and a record of what you purchased and when. Card details are entered directly with Stripe, our payment processor — GWOC never receives or stores your full card number.
• Notification tokens. If you enable push notifications, we store a token identifying your device so we can deliver them. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app or in your device settings.
• Usage and device information. Standard technical information needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service, including which sections of the app you open. This is recorded against your account and a session identifier, and we use it to understand which parts of GWOC are useful.
• Information a GWOC Star gives us about your business. A GWOC Star (see below) may invite your business by giving us its name and an email address, before you have any GWOC account. We use that only to send the invitation and to credit the Star if you sign up. If you do not sign up, the invitation expires and is not used for anything else.

How We Use Information

• To operate, personalize, and improve the Service.
• To show you content relevant to your community or metro area.
• To authenticate your account and help keep it secure.
• To process payments and deliver the paid listings and memberships you buy.
• To send push notifications you have asked for, and email about the Service.
• To understand which parts of the app are used, so we can improve them.
• To communicate with you about the Service when necessary.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with the service providers that help us operate GWOC — currently Supabase (backend infrastructure and authentication), Stripe (payment processing for paid business listings), Resend (email delivery), Google Firebase (push notification delivery), and Google or Apple (as your chosen sign-in provider) — and only as needed to provide the Service. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law.

Content other people can see. Ratings, reviews, comments, photos and listings you submit are visible to other GWOC users. If you appear on a leaderboard, your display name is shown to other users alongside your score. Please do not put anything in submitted content that you would not want to be public.

Business referrals (GWOC Stars). GWOC Stars are independent people who introduce local businesses to GWOC and earn a commission when a business they referred becomes a paying customer. If a GWOC Star referred your business, we show that Star a limited view of the business account they brought in, so they can support it: the business name, the contact email address and phone number associated with that business, which paid plan it is on, whether that plan is active, past due, ending, or ended, and the commission the referral has earned them.

A GWOC Star cannot see any account they did not refer, and never sees your ratings, reviews, location history, or payment card details. This applies only to business accounts referred through the GWOC Stars program — it does not apply to ordinary personal accounts.

Data Retention and Your Choices

You can delete your GWOC account and its associated personal data from inside the app, in your account settings. You can also request deletion by emailing us at the address below. Deleting your account removes your profile and personal data; content you posted publicly may be removed or anonymized. You can turn off location access and push notifications at any time, in the app or in your device settings, without losing access to the rest of the Service.

Children's Privacy

GWOC accounts are for adults. GWOC is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Avo-kiddos. Avo-kiddos is a kids' corner inside GWOC, with games and activities such as a scavenger hunt, a coloring book, and a sticker selfie filter. It is meant to be used by a child together with an adult, under the supervision of the parent or guardian whose GWOC account is signed in. A child does not create or sign in to an account of their own, and we do not ask a child for any personal information.

Nothing made in Avo-kiddos is uploaded to GWOC. Photos taken with the selfie filter and pictures made in the coloring book stay on your device, and leave it only if you choose to share them yourself using your device's own share options.

Security

We use reasonable measures to help protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
